You know what it’s like when your back is hurting. Sitting, standing and even lying down become difficult and walking or running is out of the question. Clocking in 8 or 9 hour at your job sounds like an eternity. Severe, crippling pain can challenge every aspect of your daily life.
Nothing about pain is good. However, there are plenty of things you can do to strength your back, ease pain and even eliminate pain completely in come cases.
Kyle Reilly, health writer for the “Reno Chiropractic” web site, insists regular non-jarring exercise can help with most challenges causing pain. And back pain is no exception. Keep in mind, however, if you are in pain that is a sign of a problem that could be exasperated by the wrong type of exercise or any strenuous movements. So stick to exercises like walking, swimming, or maybe taking a low-impact aerobics class. All pain and especially back pain can often be minimized or completely eliminated just by regular, low stress exercise. Paying particular attention to strengthening the muscles around your core, especially your abdominals, can be exceptionally helpful.
Staff at the Reno Chiropractic Clinic recommends losing a few extra pounds can also be very beneficial in easing back pain. Extra pounds can put added stress and strain on your joints and muscles, including your back muscles. Taking off a few extra pounds will take some of the burden off of your back muscles, so you will experience less pain.
Remember your parents insisting to sit up straight? And sure enough, they knew what they were talking about. Whether sitting or standing, improper posture can put a strain on your back. Make it a point to improve your posture and you will go far towards reducing a lot of your pain.
Improper lifting is one of the most common causes of back injury. All of those people who have told you to lift with your legs knew what they were talking about. Bend at the knees, grip what you need to lift, and carry it up as you straighten your legs. And, if you have to lift something really heavy, don’t try to do it alone. Get as many extra people as you need to carry the object comfortably. Plus, not only will asking for help save your back, it can also prevent accidents – like dropping and damaging the item that needs to be moved.
Simple lifestyle changes can make all the difference when it comes to avoiding, minimizing or completely eliminating back pain.
