The PPO Plan (Preferred Provider Organization) is a group of medical physicians and hospitals offering discounted rates to members. An HMO Plan (Health Maintenance Organization) requires that the insured see a principal doctor before going to any specialists. Traditional plans don. ‘t have a network of physicians and hospitals so the insured can see who they want. This plan has set rates that they accept. For example, if the hospital charged 20,000 for a hospital stay but the plan will only pay 12,000, the patient is responsible for the balance.
