Natural Treatments For High Blood Pressure Are Available

Pulmonary hypertension is a fairly rare disease. Although not currently curable, pulmonary hypertension treatment exists that can relieve many of your symptoms and make you more comfortable.

A relatively rare lung disorder, PH arises from constriction of blood vessels that supply blood from the heart to the lung. The heart then has to pump harder, causing high blood pressure and damaging the heart. An overworked and enlarged heart cannot pump the right amount of blood through the body. The result is quite often heart failure.

Many types of medication exist to treat this illness. When there is a fair amount of excess fluid in the tissue, it swells, making breathing strenuous. Diuretics are available to prevent this water retention. Anticoagulants prevent blood clots from forming so your blood is pumped efficiently. To lower your blood pressure and ease your heart’s work, you will likely be put on a vasodilator.

Surgery is really the only other option to treat the illness. If your condition is due to a blockage in a pulmonary artery, it can be surgically removed to improve your state of health. This procedure is known as a pulmonary thromboendarterectomy and is a critical operation. Combined heart and lung failure requires special treatment. It is rare to see but is crucial to monitor in certain cases.

The only known cure for pulmonary hypertension is a surgically performed lung transplant. There is a shortage of donors and a long waiting list, however. This procedure is only for advanced cases that did not respond to other types of medical attention and is a last effort. Once the lung transplant is effective, the heart eventually returns to its normal size and the symptoms disappear. It is costly, dangerous, and lung donors must be a correct match for it to be successful.

Natural treatments at home can also be useful in easing the symptoms of this affliction. Try to keep your stress levels down to prevent blood pressure spikes. Stay away from smoking and smokers. Smoke is one of the worst things possible for your heart and lungs. Keep yourself on a healthy diet with low salt intake and lots of fresh produce. Also, get plenty of rest so you don’t feel as tired.

Pulmonary hypertension is a devastating disorder and can be fatal for some patients. Do everything that your doctor recommends without hesitation. Pulmonary hypertension treatment can work depending on the type and severity, but you must try to relax and focus on controlling your health.
