Most of the time having a yeast infection is more an annoyance than a real threat. But you must still keep an eye on it. Unchecked yeast infection can develop into problems much more severe. There are essentially only two ways to treat a yeast infection or its more technical terminology, candida albicans fungus. You can use either prescription medications or more natural home remedies as yeast infection treatments.
Ointments, tablets, creams or suppositories are all available forms of prescription medication. Some of the antifungal ingredients in an average yeast infection treatment are tioconazole, clotrmazole and butoconazole. Products for males who contracted their yeast infection from sexual activity include antifungal ointments and creams. These products have to be dispensed by a doctor because of their potential for unwanted side effects such as nausea.
You need two to three weeks to clear up infected areas with medical prescriptions. Most can be totally cleared up but the problem get worse if the condition is recurring. A yeast infection can recur up to 4 or 5 times a year. If you have such a condition, you should go see a doctor as soon as possible for proper diagnosis.
Generally when the body loses the fight to control the candida albicans fungus, other parts of the body become possibilities for hosting yeast infections. Depending on where the yeast is found, the procedure for ridding yourself of it could be very different. Internal yeast infection is much harder to treat than other external infections such as a vaginal yeast infection. Your doctor can soon tell you if you have any serious concerns. One of the tests you should ask for from your doctor is a saliva test as this is a simple way to test for internal yeast problems.
From the day you are born, you are susceptible to yeast infections. Doesnt matter if you are a man or a woman, boy or girl or even newborn, you can contract a yeast infection. Yeast infections can range from an annoying skin rash to illness or even death.
Natural remedies are always to best choice for yeast infection treatment. Most involve little or no preparation and are already in your house or available at your local health food store or even grocery store. You can buy remedies over the counter that contain the same antifungal properties found in suppositories or oral medications. Two of the best home yeast infection treatments involve unsweetened yogurt and garlic paste. These are applied topically to the infected areas. One advantage they have is the immediate relief for swelling and itchy areas .
The yeast fungus is a result of toxins in your body. Flushing those out with things like 8 glasses of water daily, drinking buttermilk or eating yogurt can be very effective in putting your body back into balance. Things like apple cider vinegar, olive leaf extract and grapefruit seed tonic are also very useful as yeast infection treatments
All yogurt contains an ingredient known as lactobacillus. The lactobacillus contains acidophilus, a good bacteria that if very effective as a yeast infection treatment. For those of us who dont care for yogurt, you can get the same benefits through a widely available tonic. Acidophilus acts to increasing acidity in the intestines. Yeast fungi cannot live in acidic environments. A side benefit of acidophilus is that it also replaces friendly bacteria into the intestinal system. The balance in the intestinal tract can be easily upset by antibiotics.
