As a woman, you are prone to numerous infections and this includes vaginal yeast infection, scientifically known as Candida Infection. Infections are triggered and will cause damage for a short while. However, there are instances that the infection will cause permanent damages especially if the symptoms are ignored continually. Vaginal yeast infection is most often due to pregnancy, low immunity or serious diseases.
Women suffering from vaginal yeast infection generally feel discomfort, pain, itchy and soreness in the vagina. The symptoms may range from less to severe. It can be cured immediately however most women would commit 4 mistakes that they did not realize that they are accelerating the symptoms of the infection.
Vaginal yeast infection happens when there is an overgrowth of fungi that are normally growing in the vagina. Normally, some bacteria in the vagina hinder the fungi from overgrowing. If these bacteria reduce in number, the natural balance of the bacteria and fungi will be disrupted and then the fungi will start to reproduce on a rapid pace. Therefore, the most effective way to prevent and cure vaginal yeast infection is to normalize the balance between the bacteria and fungi.
However, without realizing this, most women use feminine hygiene sprays thinking that it might alleviate the symptoms of the infection. On the contrary, feminine hygiene sprays or the use of douches increases the growth rate of the fungi at maximum. In fact, feminine hygiene sprays more often are very acidic that using them may also kill the good bacteria in the vagina.
Women also commit a mistake in treating yeast infection using bacterial medications such as antibiotics. Yeast infection is due to the overgrowth of yeast or fungi and not bacteria. This implies that yeast infection cannot be treated with bacterial medications. And yet some women still use antibiotics for yeast infection.
Some women also did not realize that the symptoms of Candida infection can be accelerated with the use of oral contraceptives. Birth control pills have the properties that can disrupt the balance of the microorganisms in the vulva and the vagina. By using oral contraceptives, women are only increasing their susceptibility to Candida infection.
Lastly, most women prefer to treat yeast infection with short term solution. Yeast infection is a gynecological condition that may strike again. Using strong medication to kill the overgrown fungi will not give a permanent solution. The best way is to prevent it from happening in the first place.
